Moooo birthday

Alright, this was supposed to be a tutorial post on the altered book that I've mentioned on the previous post, but I was so tied up in schedule, I have not even planned the 'design' of the book, not to say video it.

Just a few more weeks left before my move and I have lots to do, and also three upcoming birthday cards and gifts to plan and be done before I leave. Please don't remind me of packing, I really wish I can get all my stash and supplies over and unfortunately, I can't. So there's this big headache over here.

And yea, new products of the etsy shop not done and now, I am considering if I should launch them or not. If I do, it meant that I need to carry all the products and supplies over ... another headache ...

And again, I guess my life will go bad without my stash and supplies over there, which means almost no crafting, unless I purchase new supplies over there ...

Okay enough of ramblings, yes, yet another birthday card from yours truly to my sister whose zodiac is a cow and has recently gone crazy about pink.

It was my first time doing heat embossing and as you can see, I failed (a little?). The original plan was for the chervon lines to be embossed clear while the cow in white. But who knows (I didn't know) that my clear embossing powder, a UTEE, could not be attached well onto Versamark ink. Thus, I heated the whole card with the hope that the Versamark ink would dry up so I can proceed to stamping and embossing the cow. And who knows again, when I spread the white embossing powder over the over, the chevron lines caught them too! With no other choices left, the whole background was embossed in white, with a little part where I guess the Versamark ink had dried up. Yea, my sad first experience with heat embossing. Not to mention the statics above ...
Oh! Don't ask me why the green is below while the pink is above when the cow should be eating grass ... my mom asked that. ha!

Cut out love Part 2

As mentioned, today will be on birthday cards, and also the last of updates on items that I've made during my hiatus.

Both last minute cards with similar styles. In fact, you can make them within ten-minutes? But that's if you have chosen the papers before hand. So I guess I need not do much explainations? Its as simple as it is :D

MATERIALS

Look out for updates at the etsy store. I've planned out a range of products to be made for the stores - Embellishments! For more updates and first hand news, stay tune to the blog or twitter!

Moustache birthday

Haven there been a Moustache trend around? I have been wondering how it got started on actually. Anyways, it was my father's birthday shortly after Father's day ...

I'd decided to make a 'single side card', more like a tag actually. It was brought up due to an incident due the father's day celebration when the family realises that our dear daddy only looks at the front cover of the card & keeps it back to the envelope. So we started complaining on why make a full card when he only looks at the front. But oh well, daddy can't be blamed at caused our content are more or less the same every single year. He could have already memorised it. I still did write a message on the back of the tag this time, & he actually flipped at read!

I first did a cutout of the heart on the pattern paper. Depending on the size of it, cut strips of papers and glue them to the kraft cardstock. Its a good way to use up your scrap pieces of papers here. Put the heart-cut piece of paper on dimensional foam, fill up the rest with alphabet stickers (yes, my letter Y is weird, & I've shifted it down after taking the weird looking photo). The moustache was actually from a promotion card given out in a restaurant for Father's day lunch. Another good way to use materials available around you isn't it?

Oh yea, my mom actually asked me what does the rulers below represent? Really, I don't know? Just used any pattern paper that I felt like. Mom always loves to ask these kinds of questions when I made something. Everything happens for a reason. ha.

Fall in love with Fall

I know I should have posted this longgggg ago. But, the lazy bug has gotten into me, unfortunately....

Hope you aren't getting to bored with my forever-happy-birthday-cards. The thing is, I thought I dislike wastage and I guess in this part of the world, we aren't very much into giving cards often unless its occasion for birthdays, or Christmas. Yet, the other thing is, I haven't been giving out Christmas cards this twenty-odd years of my life? Not a culture very much practiced by my family, very unfortunately.

Me too wished to much other themed cards, Thanksgiving, Get-Well Soon, Halloween, Christmas, and any other you can think of. I think they are beautiful and special, especially when the different collections are released. I get this urge and yet my sub-conscious told me not to end up wasting supplies... (in the sense when cards have to left in the cupboards). I guessed the only way this to maybe put the cards on sites like Etsy? But planning takes a long way, especially when I lived on one end of the Earth where buyers/interested parties are mostly on the other end.... If you do get what I mean, shipping charges and such can make a worthy product not that much of worth... if you do get what I mean again...

ANYWAYS! I thought I had made quite an achievement this time round? Making a card a little out of my usual? A square card with totally no stamping and tried using the different embellishments that I have been hiding in my craft stash ...But you see, not begin quite a crafter with a large collection of supplies, I have been using my usuals aways ... but, isn't it good to see different designs using the same? I felt good with them :D

Monster Party for a Monster Lover!

Ta-da! A monster-y card for my monster lover bff.
Alright, I shall admit the card is NOT that monster-y or even scary. But at least there are some monsters in there.
How can a birthday card be that dark and eerie? Okay, at least I didn't like that idea. HA!

Just a tiny post & off for some studying :D

14 June 2011

there comes a birthday

A greeny card for a green friend. Okay, I mean, she is a green lover!
BUT! I try not to let the card be a whole of green. Like, I think a green cotton candy would look evil. HA!

Actually, I was feeling quite uneasy with this card. A feeling as if something is missing, but I don't know what it is. I love the whole green bottom of the card actually. Using a scallop scissors for the edge and tried distressing the paper with my dear pair of scissors.
I know I know the sentiment is off-center, but i could adjust it as the 3d foam is stuck to the bottom piece of pattern paper and would tear if I force it out (actually it did a little, so I have to just let it be to prevent further damage)

Have yet to get the next card done. And so till then ....

Materials Used:
Cardstock: Straw (American Crafts), White, Pink, Green
Pattern Paper: UPcycle (Cosmo Cricket)
Stamp: Life of a Party Birthday (Hero Arts & Basic Grey), Bake me a Cake (Lawn Fawn)
Ink: Charcoal, Pink, Brown, (VersaColor), Tea Dye Distress Ink (Tim Holtz)
Pen: White Signo (Uni-Ball)

Truthfully, am quite proud with myself despite the errors here and there. The sentiment could stamp well... so i re-stamped quite a few times. Is it because it is a new stamp? Any help out there? :D
