Moooo birthday

Alright, this was supposed to be a tutorial post on the altered book that I've mentioned on the previous post, but I was so tied up in schedule, I have not even planned the 'design' of the book, not to say video it.

Just a few more weeks left before my move and I have lots to do, and also three upcoming birthday cards and gifts to plan and be done before I leave. Please don't remind me of packing, I really wish I can get all my stash and supplies over and unfortunately, I can't. So there's this big headache over here.

And yea, new products of the etsy shop not done and now, I am considering if I should launch them or not. If I do, it meant that I need to carry all the products and supplies over ... another headache ...

And again, I guess my life will go bad without my stash and supplies over there, which means almost no crafting, unless I purchase new supplies over there ...

Okay enough of ramblings, yes, yet another birthday card from yours truly to my sister whose zodiac is a cow and has recently gone crazy about pink.

It was my first time doing heat embossing and as you can see, I failed (a little?). The original plan was for the chervon lines to be embossed clear while the cow in white. But who knows (I didn't know) that my clear embossing powder, a UTEE, could not be attached well onto Versamark ink. Thus, I heated the whole card with the hope that the Versamark ink would dry up so I can proceed to stamping and embossing the cow. And who knows again, when I spread the white embossing powder over the over, the chevron lines caught them too! With no other choices left, the whole background was embossed in white, with a little part where I guess the Versamark ink had dried up. Yea, my sad first experience with heat embossing. Not to mention the statics above ...
Oh! Don't ask me why the green is below while the pink is above when the cow should be eating grass ... my mom asked that. ha!

Cut out love Part 2

As mentioned, today will be on birthday cards, and also the last of updates on items that I've made during my hiatus.

Both last minute cards with similar styles. In fact, you can make them within ten-minutes? But that's if you have chosen the papers before hand. So I guess I need not do much explainations? Its as simple as it is :D

MATERIALS

Look out for updates at the etsy store. I've planned out a range of products to be made for the stores - Embellishments! For more updates and first hand news, stay tune to the blog or twitter!

Moustache birthday

Haven there been a Moustache trend around? I have been wondering how it got started on actually. Anyways, it was my father's birthday shortly after Father's day ...

I'd decided to make a 'single side card', more like a tag actually. It was brought up due to an incident due the father's day celebration when the family realises that our dear daddy only looks at the front cover of the card & keeps it back to the envelope. So we started complaining on why make a full card when he only looks at the front. But oh well, daddy can't be blamed at caused our content are more or less the same every single year. He could have already memorised it. I still did write a message on the back of the tag this time, & he actually flipped at read!

I first did a cutout of the heart on the pattern paper. Depending on the size of it, cut strips of papers and glue them to the kraft cardstock. Its a good way to use up your scrap pieces of papers here. Put the heart-cut piece of paper on dimensional foam, fill up the rest with alphabet stickers (yes, my letter Y is weird, & I've shifted it down after taking the weird looking photo). The moustache was actually from a promotion card given out in a restaurant for Father's day lunch. Another good way to use materials available around you isn't it?

Oh yea, my mom actually asked me what does the rulers below represent? Really, I don't know? Just used any pattern paper that I felt like. Mom always loves to ask these kinds of questions when I made something. Everything happens for a reason. ha.

Babies brings joy to Life

My first nephew was born! Cute charming little one who makes everyone laugh whenever we look at him. I was actually quite 'uninspired' that day when I was creating the card. Probably because I was very determined to use the Cakewalk Stickers by October Afternoon, since I bought them with intension for the baby. Or because I wanted the card to be as tiny as possible. I wonder where inspirations had gone these days ... oh well ...
Side note, the Cakewalk Collection is also a beautiful collection to own for parties and celebrations, with a little of vintage element.

Daddy who bought us home

First up, a card for Father's day!
As usual, different occasions calls for different types of cards. I hit down to the scrapbooking store at the very last minutes as the original pack of 6X6 pad that I bought for making the Father's day card did not inspired me enough. Did all kinds of mix-and-match, hopefully to bring out a story?

Daddy who bought us home & gave us car-ride whenever we need (& hopefully own more cars and bigger house to live)

Got the Union Square paper that I have been eyeing for ages, but need not know what to do with it & now here's the chance to 'officially' buy it. The Authentique Petite Type Square stickers were also a great by. Crafters like me, who keeps wanting the new products at stores and fell in love with the different kinds of letter stickers, get this! One inexpensive small sheet & it satisfies your needs ...

the wedding bells rings

Yup yup, here's the card that I've talked about! It for my sister's bestie whom got married last weekend.
To be truthful, I had no idea about making a wonderful wedding card & so, got my the inspiration from Darlene. Made the kraft envelope myself and hand-cut most of the hearts, other than  few as you can see. (Its from my two-dollar-store craft punch. yes, i know most of the crafters in the west say dollar-store. but in my country, the cheapest is a two-dollar store. ha)

oh wells, like i've mentioned in the previous post, i've been busy with my temporary job ( till i have to go to school). I hardly had time for crafts :( Worse still, I have my mom's birthday mini-album to complete. 18 pages to do, and I'm only on page 4. Now that I'm working, I totally can't make them since my mom will be home by the time i knock-off and I leave the house earlier than her every single day :( Being a birthday surprise meant that I have to do it behind her back. OH MAN! how am I going to complete it now I seriously wonder ...

Back on track, I went to purchase a Cutterpede Mini Paper Trimmer last weekend. Cause I've been rather unhappy with my Fiskars Personal Trimmer, it doesn't seem to cut clean and straight lines now. (It didn't have a clean cut from the first day to start with). I know you may ask why a mini and not the full length one. Firstly, paper's I've purchased are mostly the 6X6 pads, 12X12 are mostly card stocks only. Secondly, I wanted something small and handy. Third, I wanted to use it as a scorer too. So, I hope I've made a right decision. HA. But I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Any advices earthlings?

Hello Chickadee! Card for World Cardmaking Day 2011

Heya! Just a quick post before heading to bed!
This is the card that I've (promised) to make for the World Cardmaking Day 2011. ha.
Just a quick and simple one. Am also going to enter this for the Lawn Fawn WCD2011 Contest. And so according to the rules, I have to sent it to someone & I did! :D
Thanks a million for the opportunity to make a non-happy-birthday-card, for a day without occasion. HA!
(so much for grumbling in a post before! miracles do happen uh).

Alright, I think I am not thinking well now to a tired brain. Before I start talking about nonsenses, I better stop. teeheehee

Fall in love with Fall

I know I should have posted this longgggg ago. But, the lazy bug has gotten into me, unfortunately....

Hope you aren't getting to bored with my forever-happy-birthday-cards. The thing is, I thought I dislike wastage and I guess in this part of the world, we aren't very much into giving cards often unless its occasion for birthdays, or Christmas. Yet, the other thing is, I haven't been giving out Christmas cards this twenty-odd years of my life? Not a culture very much practiced by my family, very unfortunately.

Me too wished to much other themed cards, Thanksgiving, Get-Well Soon, Halloween, Christmas, and any other you can think of. I think they are beautiful and special, especially when the different collections are released. I get this urge and yet my sub-conscious told me not to end up wasting supplies... (in the sense when cards have to left in the cupboards). I guessed the only way this to maybe put the cards on sites like Etsy? But planning takes a long way, especially when I lived on one end of the Earth where buyers/interested parties are mostly on the other end.... If you do get what I mean, shipping charges and such can make a worthy product not that much of worth... if you do get what I mean again...

ANYWAYS! I thought I had made quite an achievement this time round? Making a card a little out of my usual? A square card with totally no stamping and tried using the different embellishments that I have been hiding in my craft stash ...But you see, not begin quite a crafter with a large collection of supplies, I have been using my usuals aways ... but, isn't it good to see different designs using the same? I felt good with them :D

24 August 2011

Its been ages ...

A month or two since the last post, I know.

After the end of my part-time job, I supposed I should have more time crafting ... but I entered the stage of dilemma. The dilemma if I should stop updating this blog & just focus on putting my images on flickr alone...Eventually I am back here, talking to myself. HA!

Anyways, in between, I had craft some cards, learning new techniques, spending more on material and what you can know of a crafter :D

My neighbour had recently gave birth to a baby girl & hence I made a card for their baby shower . ( & a card that has to feed the taste of my dear mother). Did some paper-piecing and colorings, putting the layout together.

Materials Used:
Cardstock: Baby Pink , Beige, Dark Green
Pattern Paper: Odds & Ends, Social Club (Cosmo Cricket), This & That (LilyBeeDesign), Baby Mine- Flower Die Cut (Fancy Pants Design)
Stamp: Bring on the Cake (Studio g), Life of a Party Birthday (Hero Arts & Basic Grey)
Ink: Pink and Brown (VersaColor)
Pen: White and Silver Signo (Uni-Ball)
Colour Pencil: Faber-Castell

Next, a birthday card for my dearest sister. (Yes, birthday card again, I know). Despite the few that I have made in the past, this is of a totally different style I supposed? It is much more simpler and also one that I had great satisfaction of in completion. I've actually brought more coordinating pattern papers for this project, but it seems better without using them. HA.

Materials Used:
Cardstock: Kraft (Brazill Basics Paper)
Pattern Paper: Wrapped 12X12 Boy Hip Hip Hooray Paper (My Minds Eye)
Stamp: Script (KaiserCraft)
Ink: Tea Dye Distress Ink (Tim Holtz)
Letter Sticker: ABC Stickers (LilyBeeDesign)
Ribbon: American Crafts
